Dealing with Deadly Witches and a Fallen Angel

In Hexed by Kevin Hearne, we are reintroduced to Atticus O'Sullivan, the last of the Druids, who is living in Arizona under an assumed identity. Atticus is a two-thousand-year-old Druid who has been hiding from the gods and goddesses who want him dead. He is accompanied by his Irish Wolfhound, Oberon, with whom he shares a telepathic link. The story begins with Atticus being confronted by a coven of witches who are trying to kill him.

Atticus soon learns that the coven is led by a powerful witch, who is also a fallen angel. This angel, named Tempesta, has been cast out of heaven and is now seeking revenge on the world. She has gathered a group of powerful witches and Bacchants, followers of the Roman god Bacchus, to help her in her quest to destroy the world. Atticus realizes that he is the only one who can stop her.

    Forming Unlikely Alliances

Atticus knows he cannot face Tempesta and her coven alone. He forms an alliance with the local coven of witches, the Sisters of the Three Auroras, and a group of Bacchants who are not aligned with Tempesta. He also enlists the help of his vampire lawyer, Leif Helgarson, and his neighbor, a widow named Mrs. MacDonagh, who has a vast collection of illegal weapons. Atticus also seeks the help of Coyote, the Native American trickster god, who agrees to help him in exchange for a favor.

Atticus and his allies plan to stop Tempesta's coven from performing a ritual that will unleash a deadly plague on the world. They also need to find a way to kill Tempesta, who is immune to most conventional weapons. Atticus learns that the only way to kill a fallen angel is with a weapon made from the wood of a tree that grows in the Garden of Eden. He sets out to find this tree, accompanied by his allies.

    A Race Against Time

As the group races against time to stop Tempesta, they face numerous challenges. They are attacked by Tempesta's coven and have to fight their way through. They also have to deal with the local police, who are suspicious of the group's activities. Atticus also has to deal with his apprentice, Granuaile, who is unaware of his true identity as a Druid and is growing increasingly suspicious of his behavior.

Despite these challenges, Atticus and his allies manage to reach the Garden of Eden and obtain the wood they need to kill Tempesta. They return to Arizona and confront Tempesta and her coven. In a fierce battle, Atticus manages to kill Tempesta and destroy her coven. The world is saved from the deadly plague, and Atticus and his allies emerge victorious.

    Conclusion

In conclusion, Hexed by Kevin Hearne is a thrilling urban fantasy novel that takes the reader on a fast-paced adventure filled with action, magic, and mythology. Atticus O'Sullivan is a compelling protagonist, and his interactions with his allies, especially his witty conversations with his dog Oberon, add humor and warmth to the story. The novel ends with Atticus and his allies celebrating their victory, but Atticus knows that his troubles are far from over. The gods and goddesses who want him dead are still out there, and they will not rest until they have their revenge.
