In Siege and Storm by Leigh Bardugo, we are once again immersed in the magical world of the Grisha. The story picks up after the events of Shadow and Bone with Alina and Mal on the run, trying to escape the Darkling's clutches. Sturmhond is more than he seems, and he offers them a chance to escape the Darkling's clutches and fight back against his tyranny. Alina and Mal decide to go along with his plan, but they are wary of trusting him completely.
Sturmhond's plan involves capturing a legendary sea serpent and using its power to destroy the Darkling's hold over the Grisha. The journey to capture the creature is fraught with danger and challenges, testing the trio's resolve and their ability to work together despite their differences. Alina also has to confront her growing attraction to Sturmhond, even as she remains committed to Mal.

Back in Ravka, the situation continues to deteriorate, with the Darkling tightening his grip on the kingdom and the Grisha. Alina and her allies launch a daring rescue mission to free the Grisha from the Darkling's control, leading to a dramatic confrontation between Alina and the Darkling. During this confrontation, Alina discovers the true nature of her powers and the source of the Darkling's strength.
However, their victory is short-lived as the Darkling reveals a shocking revelation that shatters Alina's world. The book ends with Alina and Mal once again on the run, their future uncertain, and the Darkling more powerful and dangerous than ever.
