Together, they embark on a quest to free Thanatos, the god of death, who has been captured by the giant Alcyoneus, causing the dead to remain unclaimed and the living to be unable to die.
As they journey, the trio faces various challenges, including battling the twin giants Otis and Ephialtes, and the sorceress Circe. They also encounter the Amazons, who are holding Thanatos captive. During their quest, they learn about each other's pasts. Hazel reveals that she was brought back from the dead by her half-brother, Nico di Angelo, and Frank shares his family's history of serving in the military.
