Pamela didn’t pursue fame. It found her.

This is not the typical story of “small-town-girl moves to Hollywood and hits the pavement running to auditions.” Pamela says she never set out to be famous; it just happened along the way, aligning with her zest for life as she followed her heart’s desires.

You may wonder what formed her exceptional joie de vivre. While childhood was hard for Pamela and marked by several traumatic events, she acknowledges the positive influences and traits her parents and grandparents passed along. She tells of their intellect, appreciation for beauty, acceptance of others, and a bit of wildness that seemed to go along with their natural surroundings. Her upbringing resulted in a unique mix of values, sense of independence, openness, and strong will — all qualities she believes set her trajectory.

Pamela’s stardom story begins at a 1989 BC Lions football game she attended with friends. When a fan-cam found her in the crowd and projected her image onto the jumbotron, she was “discovered” and quickly recruited to model in beer ads. Those appearances drew the attention of Playboy, who offered the opportunity to pose and then stay in Hollywood to become a Playmate.

These events put Pamela on casting agents’ radars. That led to a bit part in the show, Married … with Children. As she left the set, someone grabbed her to audition for the show, Home Improvement, where she landed a recurring role for two seasons. Around the same time, she had been brushing off interest from Baywatch, but just happened to attend an audition with then-boyfriend (and later co-star) David Charvet. Producers offered her the starring role as a character they developed just for her, C.J. Parker.

The rest is history — at least in the media. As Baywatch became the most popular series in the world and launched Pamela to global fame, she quickly began leveraging it to benefit causes that are important to her.
